Moroccan Meatballs & Couscous with Try The World

For this months Try the World box we got Morocco! We were super excited for this months box because we both haven’t tried Moroccan food before so we were curious about how everything would taste. Morocco wasn’t the March box, it’s a past one, but it’s one they sent us anyway. So we decided to make some Moroccan meatballs & couscous! That’s one of the many reason why we love Try the World, you can try so many different international flavors and experiment with new tastes. It’s like you’re really traveling and trying new meals without leaving your kitchen.

This box came with a lot of items that we could use to cook with so we were super exited to try everything! I love how every month you get a nice mix of spices, snacks, a drink, and ingredients to make meals. Its perfect since you can try a little bit of everything.

What you need for the meatballs:

1 lb. of ground meat
1 tbs of chopped garlic
1 tbs of kefta spices
2 tsp of salt and pepper
2 green onions chopped
1 tbs of olive oil

Chop the green onion and garlic then put in the bowl along with the other spices, then put the ground meat last. I like to do this since I’m going to be mixing the meat with everything, and wont contaminate everything. Make the meatballs about the size of golf balls so they can cook in a shorter amount of time, and they are more bite size. Put on a sheet and cook in the oven on 350 for 30 minutes to get them nice and brown.

While the meatballs are cooking its time to make the couscous. To make this you need:

2 cups of couscous
2 cups of water
1/2 a cup of cherry tomatoes cut in half
1/2 a bottle of couscous sauce
1 tbs of olive oil
1 chopped green onion
Salt and pepper to taste

Start by putting the water on and bring it to a boil, then add the couscous and stir to combine. Turn the heat off and let it sit for 5 minutes to finish cooking and absorb all of the liquid. Add the tomatoes, sauce, olive oil, salt and pepper, and green onion and stir everything together.

Once the meatballs are finished, add them to the couscous and enjoy!

I hope you enjoy this recipe, and are inspired to make it on a weeknight. It’s so quick and easy to make it’s perfect for any busy weeknight. It’s also great to have for lunch the next day!
